Went to Summer Camp & Came Back With Head Lice

Hello Summer Camp… Good – Bye Head Lice

Some of your child’s best memories are often made at summer camp. Unfortunately,

head lice like camp just as much as your children do.

Don’t let the pesky problem keep

your child from the fun of swimming, games and campfires this summer.

Lice Clinics of America – Philadelphia keeps campers lice free!

In a recent study from the University of Michigan, out of 500 camps surveyed, 60% of

camp leaders said lice infections were a substantial burden on staff and the camper’s

family. With limited staff resources and children being away from home, it makes

effective lice treatment more challenging. For this reason more camps in the region are

being proactive about preventing the spread of head lice and calling on Lice Clinics of

America to help. Our clinicians will be heading to camps in the Northeast this summer to

help ensure a lice free summer.

We offer camp concierge services that include head checks for all campers upon arrival.

Children who are found to have head lice are treated on-site using our guaranteed one

and done process that includes a non-toxic solution and FDA cleared AirAlle device. Our

service protects other children from getting head lice and allows campers who arrive

with head lice the ability to stay and enjoy their camp experience.

Lice Clinics of America also provides customized assistance based on the needs of

each camp to establish policies, treatment protocols and guidance for campers and their

families including pre-camp head check coupons.

For camps not using our concierge service, we can provide our non-toxic treatment

solutions and, if there is an outbreak, send a nurse to help contain the spread within 48

hours of a report.

Tips to prevent lice in your camper:

As you prepare to send your child to camp, you should also prepare for the potential of

head lice. Because kids are together day and night, sleeping in tight quarters, the likely

hood of lice is increased.

Before camp starts, be proactive and have your child checked for head lice in the

privacy of our clinic located right outside of Philadelphia.

If your child has recently had lice and you’ve been treating it with over-the-counter

shampoos, chances are they still have lice and should be checked.

Super lice are resistant to most chemical treatments.

When camp starts, remind your child not to share brushes, combs, hairbands or

hats. For children with longer hair, it helps to keep the hair tied back in a ponytail or bun.

Don’t forget to pack Lice Clinics of America’s Preventative Lice Spray and Shampoo.

Our non-toxic, lice deterrent has a light mint scent that lice don’t like.

If your child’s camp does not have a head lice policy, it’s important to have them

checked for lice after camp ends. Lice is present in 2-4% of school-aged children so

chances are several kids at camp came there with lice.
